About Me
- Margaret
- I'm married (45 years) to my wonderful (sometimes) husband, Peter and have two wonderful (sometimes) grown-up (sometimes) children. I also am a grandmother to five gorgeous and wonderful (sometimes) grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. I am a self taught 'tatter'... 'Tatting' is lace-making with a shuttle instead of with bobbins - though I can also make lace in the traditional way too. I enjoy knitting and also crochet, and have tried many other arts and crafts - but always go back to tatting. I write poetry, and if I didn't have fibromyalgia I'd probably enjoy long walks through the forest and along the beach too :)

My workdesk today
Hi to all my friends, and my Daughter Sheleen, at last i can show what is on my workdesk today, Tuesday. The bottom piece is a bookmark, or, will be when finished. The white, is the Star of David that i am making for Pete, the other pieces are mats in different stages of working. Really i have lots to finish but the Star of David will take time as it will be a table runner, which i work in between other projects. Also, i am knitting a scarf to brighten up my winter coat!!

Number 51 here :-) I’m doing a quick dash round as many as I can this week to see what you’ve all been up to. So much fab creativity going on everywhere I go. It’s really brilliant. Thats one of the few crafts I've never mastered. Keep doing what you do best and have a great week

ReplyDeleteTatting is one type of crafting that I've never tried (don't think I should add it to my list at the moment as I don't seem to have the time to do the stuff I need to get done LOL). Your work is beautifully neat and I look forward to seeing some of the finished items.
ReplyDeleteI would have visited before but Blogger has not been playing nice for me. Welcome to Blogland.

I am so jealous of you. My aunt taught me to know properly, I taught myself to crochet from a book, but tatting has totally defeated me. My husband's aunt did tatting but I never got the chance to learn from her. It is such beautiful delicate work. One day, I must try again. Until then, I will drool over your lovely creations.
ReplyDeleteThese are fabulous, wish I could sew/knit/crochet...well, I had tried...never looked like the picture!! Happy late WOYWW!

Thank you all for lovely comments. To those of you who would like to tat please don't give up, I taught myself by a starting pack bought on the internet from prescencia, the instructions are very easy to follow. So have a go!!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful lace! Wish I could tat, crochet, knit and do such fun stuff! Sorry I am so late getting around but DH left for China yesterday and I had to spend the past week getting him ready to go. Have a great week. Thanks for sharing. Vickie #56
ReplyDeleteOMG. Great. I never heard of "tatting" before. Is it hard to learn? I must figure out what is a "slovene" translation and where could I get this "gadget" and some samples. I must Google ASAP :-)Really looks amazing!
